For the most part, guests on Fox News are typically aligned with hosts’ opinions on heated topics, but New England Patriots tight end Benjamin Watson threw Laura Ingraham for a loop on The Ingraham Angle on Monday.
In a discussion around sports and politics, Watson shocked Ingraham and most of the Fox News audience when he sided with Jemele Hill’s stance that Black collegiate athletes should take their talents to historically Black colleges and universities.
“When I saw the uproar over it, I read the article,” he told Ingraham, who believed Hill is trying to “re-segregate” America. “I agreed with her, she had some great points in that article there.”
Hill’s article in The Atlantic’s October issue highlighted the value of Black athletes who bring attention and revenue to predominantly white universities, while historically Black institutions of higher education struggle to stay afloat.
Watson, an alumnus of Duke University, also noted that while HBCUs struggle to compete with predominantly-white institutions when it comes to money and support, historically Black colleges and universities produce a great number of successful professional athletes.
“What [Hill] was saying was simply, if we are trying to pump money and revenue into some of these communities that there’s still this big disparity, this may be a way to do it,” Watson said.
Clearly shook by his response, Ingraham became defensive and argued that college sports would look completely different “if we went down a color-coded way of figuring out college admissions.”
It wasn’t long before Watson, cool as a cucumber, insisted the Fox News host read the article, and she responded by throwing it to commercial.
Like clockwork, Twitter chimed in on this hilarious Fox News moment.
What’s so hilarious about this is that on an almost nightly basis Laura Ingraham bitches and complains about how white people are being replaced, and how diversity is bad for America.

Watching Fox News get dunked on by a black man always will bring a smile to my face. Poor Laura, she wasn’t smart enough to see it coming.

Wildest part was that Watson wasnt even caping like that. All he said was you raised some good points that he agreed with and Laura was like: pic.twitter.com/cYgVT2u83h

That cold, condescending, dead-eyed gaze of Laura Ingraham when she realizes Benjamin Watson is not saying what she wanted him to say. pic.twitter.com/sWYNCDG1eF
