This 17-year-old has options. Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna has been putting in over time on her studies and it’s paid off with acceptance letters from every Ivy League school in the country, plus MIT and NYU.

The daughter of immigrants from Nigeria, Augusta’s family has always been very supportive, pushing her to do the very best she could in school. Without a doubt, she’s made them proud by not only having her pick of the best educational experiences that are offered in the United States, but also as the valedictorian of Elmont Memorial High School, an Intel science finalist, and the recipient of a personal invitation to the White House Science Fair.

When asked about where she wanted to enroll, Uwamanzu-Nna responded that, “Attending one of those schools, any of them, would be such a great honor.”

#BlackGirlMagic comes in many forms, but every time we see it we have an obligation to uphold it, because there are so many people who still refuse to do so. Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna should be celebrated and lifted up by the community to reinforce the fact that she and her effort means something to, and for, all of us.

What do you think about Augusta’s amazing accomplishment? Let us know in the comments.
