History was made Tuesday night when Hillary Clinton won the Democratic party nomination. She is officially the first female nominee of a major political party.

Clinton’s road to the nomination was rocky at times — even at the Democratic National Convention there was a divide between Clinton supporters and those who were still fighting for Bernie Sanders. The news follows a heart-warming endorsement speech from First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama on Monday and a moving speech by the Mothers of the Movement Tuesday night.

Clinton tweeted a simple message to celebrate:

And regardless of your feelings toward Clinton, one thing’s for sure — her nomination will change the face many young people think of when they imagine a presidential nominee.
