Since many of you enjoyed watching Will Smith and Jaden Smith do their thing on Graham Norton’s show (posted HERE on Friday), I thought some of you might appreciate watching another black actor/actress do their own thing, also recently – a completely different kind of thing this time.
On Friday night, five-time Tony award winner, Audra McDonald, hosted the season finale of Live From Lincoln Center – the ongoing PBS series of musical performances (concerts, ballets, operas, recitals) produced by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, in conjunction with Thirteen/WNET in New York City. It first premiered on January 30, 1976, and is aired by PBS stations nationwide.
It has presented historic performances by artists like Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Itzhak Perlman, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and several others.
During Friday’s season finale episode, Audra sang some of her favorite tunes, in a gala concert titled Audra McDonald’s Go Back Home. It was taped on May 9 at Avery Fisher Hall, and featured songs from her new album Go Back Home, and more.
It aired on PBS stations nationwide, on Friday, May 24, as part of Live from Lincoln Center.
PBS has made the entire hour-long show available on its website, and I’ve embedded it below for you to watch, and hopefully enjoy, some time during the rest of this long holiday weekend in the USA:
