For nearly three decades Ice Cube has been in the public spotlight as a rapper, actor or movie producer. On Monday, June 12, the MC known for his undeniable talent and unforgettable verses was immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry.
During yesterday's ceremony, the west coast staple took time out to thank his mother for allowing him to do anything that "kept him out of the streets." He also thanked his father for being there and making him the man that he is today. "A lot of guys don't have their father's around and if you want to make a man like this, stay around your son, stay around your kids," the rapper and actor said looking into the crowd of spectators.
He didn't let a moment pass without giving Dr. Dre, his mentor, friend, and former N.W.A bandmate, proper respect. Ice Cube credits the mega-producer for launching his career. "I love you Dre, man," Ice Cube said. "Thank you for letting me hang around you man." Cube reminded the crowd that he was only 15 when he first entered the rap game by way of Dr. Dre.
