How this slipped past us, I have no idea. But along with all the new syndicated talk shows premiering this fall, from folks like Katie Couric, Jeff Probst, Ricke Lake (WHAT AGAIN?), Marie Osmond and, of course, the ladies' favorite Steve Harvey (which is already getting a major PR push from NBC Universal who is producing his show), there's another one set to make its premiere this September.

And that is, The Trisha Goddard talk show, which, like Harvey's show, is also produced by NBC Universal; and according to reports, as far back as this past winter, was already sold in 80% of all markets in the U.S. 

Funny though, I haven't heard a thing about this show until now. Have you? Hmmmm… I would think that NBCU producing two talk shows with black hosts, would make some kind of news.

And who is Trisha Goddard?

She's from the U.K., but started her professional career in the late 80's in Australia as a news anchor, making her the first black person to ever to hold that job on Aussie TV. But she moved on from there, and hosted her very own popular talk show in the U.K., which ran on ITV until 2009.

During the run of the show, she was struck with a personal crisis, when she diagnosed with breast cancer, and while dealing with the disease, her show was cancelled by ITV, claiming that it was getting too expensive to produce.

However she's now cancer-free and ready to start up her U.S. TV career, which she says has been a long time dream of hers.

Judging from the promo clip below, she's part Oprah, Dr. Phil, Tyra Banks, Nancy Grace, and Maury Povich.

In fact, a whole lot of Maury, since she also was known for using "infamous tools like lie detectors and DNA tests" on her show. In fact she has even subbed as a guest host for Maury on his show.

Haven't seen any of those shows, but I'll bet hearing "You ARE the baby daddy!" sounds a WHOLE lot less ratchet in a British accent.
