Despite being nominated for an award, JoJo Siwa addresses why she wasn’t at the 2022 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

On Saturday, Siwa shared a video on her Instagram account, stating that she didn’t know why she wasn’t invited to the awards show.

“A lot of you have been asking me why I’m not at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards tonight, and the answer is very simple — I wasn’t invited,” Siwa said. “I’m not sure why, but I just didn’t get an invite.”

Siwa reaffirmed her statement in her Instagram post.

“A lot of you have been asking why I’m not at the Nickelodeon Kid [sic] Choice Awards tonight, ” she wrote. “I don’t want anyone to think it was my choice not to go…. I simply didn’t get an invite.”

In September, Siwa called Nickelodeon out, revealing that the network prevented her from performing certain songs on her 37-city D.R.E.A.M. tour. Siwa said in the now-deleted tweet that Nickelodeon told her that the songs from her movie musical could not appear in her show.

“I go out on tour in January. My movie musical was just released (with six new original songs),” Siwa tweeted. “Nickelodeon told me today that I’m not allowed to perform/add any of the songs from the film into my show. These are MY songs, MY voice, MY writing. Does this seem fair???”

Following two postponements caused by the pandemic, Siwa began her D.R.E.A.M. tour in January. The singer planned on performing songs from her recent E.P.s: “D.R.E.A.M. The Music” from 2018 and “Celebrate” from 2019.

In a separate deleted tweet, Siwa shared that there is no reason her music shouldn’t be included.

“There is no reason that this music should not be included,” Siwa tweeted. “Working for a company as a real human being treated as only a brand is fun until it’s not.”

Siwa revealed a new haircut on her Instagram account last week. The video shows how much hair she lost when her stylist cut a chunk of her long locks.
