For the first time in nearly 16 years, MSNBC’s quarterly ratings have beat CNN, and the credit goes to Joy Reid’s “AM Joy."
The show pulled in a striking 33 percent increase of morning viewers since the last quarter during its 10 a.m. to noon ET weekend time slot.

“AM Joy," which launched in May of 2016, has not yet been running for two years and has already garnered the hearts of viewers. Through Reid's insightful commentary and thorough questioning, her show has unpacked political and social issues in ways that draw viral conversations online and help spark trending topics on Twitter.
Though it was revealed that Fox News was the overall winner this quarter, taking in more viewers and a larger demographic between 10 a.m. – 12 noon, Reid’s show made a second place historical mark by beating CNN in total viewers; this feat has not been accomplished by MSNBC since 2001.
Across social media, Reid’s show also gathers greater attention, The Wrap reported, and is often trending on Twitter in the United States.
According to The Wrap, Reid told them she was proud to use her liberal voice to stand up for partisan beliefs and that her Fox News counterparts were distorting Black Lives Matter coverage in order to portray them as aggressors to their right-leaning audience. Fox News called these comments “baseless and hateful.”
Congrats Joy Reid, we're rooting for you!
