Some quickie TV casting news…

First, Keke Palmer is joining the season two cast of the acclaimed Showtime drama series Masters Of Sex. 

Palmer will recur playing a character named Coral, who’s the nanny hired by the Masters to care for their new baby. 

Production on season two will begin mid-March in Los Angeles.

Second, Regina Hall has also booked a recurring role in FX’s new series Married, which will debut this summer. The new series stars Nat Faxon and Judy Greer as Russ and Lina Bowman, a couple with kids, debt and other marriage valleys that have drained the romance out of their relationship, as they work together to try to revive and maintain the magic they once shared. Hall will play a character named Roxanne, who’s the newly-engaged ex-wife of AJ (played by Brett Gelman), who is having a very difficult time with their divorce.

Last but not necessarily least, after audience-testing 5 new pilots via its Prime service, Amazon Studios has given series orders to 4 of them, including: The After from Chris Carter, which co-stars Aldis Hodge, and Bosch, from Eric Overmyer and Michael Connelly, which Jamie Hector co-stars in. 

The After follows 8 strangers who are thrown together by mysterious forces and must help each other survive in a violent world that defies explanation. Aldis Hodge co-stars alongside Andrew Howard, Arielle Kebbel, Jamie Kennedy, Sharon Lawrence, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Adrian Pasdar, and Louise Monot.

Bosch is based on Michael Connelly’s best-selling Harry Bosch series follows a relentless LAPD homicide detective as he pursues the killer of a 13-year-old boy while standing trial in federal court on accusations that he murdered a suspected serial killer in cold blood. Bosch is played by Titus Welliver(Argo, The Good Wife) and stars Jamie Hector as his partner, Annie Wersching, and Amy Price-Francis. 

Newly picked up half-hour comedy series include Gael Garcia Bernal starrer Mozart In The Jungle, from Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman, Alex Timbers and Paul Weitz, and Jill Soloway’s semi-autobiographical Transparent. 

Amazon’s 5th pilot, comedy The Rebels, from Ice Cube and Michael Strahan, is being put on hold.

Congrats to all these actors on their new roles – especially Hodge and Hector, who were both in limbo after the future of the series pilots they appear in were left to audiences to watch and decide on which would be ordered to series, and which would not.
