The lineup for the 2012 Montreal International Black Film Festival is shaping up with interest – from the already-announced opening night film, Darrell Roodt's much-discussed Winne Mandela biopic, which stars Jennifer Hudson as the title character, and Terrence Howard as Nelson Mandela, to the closing night film (announced this morning), documentary master Ken Burns' The Central Park Five, which Burns co-directed with his daughter Sarah Burns, and his son-in-law David McMahon, and which will have its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. 

The documentary examines the case of the Central Park rape, in the late 1980s, that triggered strong emotions in New Yorkers, and the sensational media storm across the US that followed. It turned out to be a tale of racial injustice. 

"It is an honour to have this film make its Quebec debut at the MIBFF. We always close the festival with a hard-hitting film, and THE CENTRAL PARK FIVE is undoubtedly a film that will send chills down your spine, take you to the depths of human evil and change the way you think," stated Fabienne Colas, President-Founder of the Festival.

The 8th annual MIBFF will take place from September 19 to 30, 2012, and is presented by Global Montreal.
