Denzel Washington won a Tony Award for his performance as conflicted patriarch Troy Maxson in August Wilson's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Fences; now Brit Lenny Henry will attempt to make his own mark on the role, but across the pond, when the the Theatre Royal Bath in the U.K. will put on Fencesbeginning February 18, 2013, through March 2, 2013.

And after that run, the play will move to London's West End theater district (the UK-equivalent of Broadway here in the USA), under Paulette Randall's direction.

Henry most recently starred in the West End production of Othello, playing the title role. This will be his first attempt at Troy Maxson; and having both James Earl Jones and Denzel Washington to follow, Henry, the Shakespearan actor, is well aware of the shoes he has to fill, calling the role "the African American King Lear").

Brits should be in for a treat, if you've never seen Wilson's Fences performed; and with an actor the caliber of Henry, it should be a good show.

No word yet on who'll play Maxson's wife and son. Viola Davis also won the Tony for playing Rose Maxson.
