JR was eliminated from Claim to Fame in this week’s episode after he failed to guess Chris’ famous family member. He had incorrectly thought Chris was related to Billy Idol, making him the eighth person to leave the show’s second season. The TV segment led to a reveal concerning JR’s family.
JR, whose real name is Robert Lamar Stafford Jr., is Lil Nas X’s older brother.
“I’m happy you’re out here doing your thing. I’m thankful for you; I’m thankful for all the support you give me and all the love you show me throughout my life. Love you!” the performer said in a video broadcast during the episode.
“You can never judge a book by its cover because you will never know who someone is related to,” JR told Pop Culture about the reveal. “We both have two different worlds but share the same love for each other!”
He also opened up about his relationship with his brother.
“Our relationship is a typical brother bond,” he said. “The only difference is that he’s a huge superstar so he is busier than most, however when we link up, we never miss a beat.”
JR praised Lil Nas X’s work ethic and shared it’s a quality he admires in his younger sibling.
“What people don’t know is how hard he works on every single project,” he added. “His vision is immaculate and he makes it come to life and that is what I love the most about him.”
