If you ask social media, Ice-T and Coco Austin have a questionable style of parenting. The couple often finds themselves on the receiving end of critique when it comes to how they choose to raise their now 6-year-old daughter, Chanel. First, it was for choosing to breastfeed their daughter well after the age of five. Then, just a few months ago, the mother of one caught flack from online followers for pushing her school-aged daughter in a stroller while on vacation in the Bahamas.

In response to the negativity, Austin took to Twitter. “Oh lord!! Really people? The world loves to criticize literary everything I do,” she wrote. “Isn’t there a war & mass shootings going as we speak & you’d rather mess with my mothering?”

Now Austin is having to defend herself once again, this time for choosing to bathe her and Ice-T’s daughter in the kitchen sink.

The 43-year-old mom shared a clip on TikTok and Instagram, breaking down how she quickly gets Chanel ready for the day when time is not on their side.

In the video, Coco and Chanel are getting ready for the Patricia Field fashion show and only have an hour to get ready. The video begins with a shot of Chanel bathing in the kitchen sink while watching something on an iPad.

“The sink is the easiest when you have to be fast,” Austin wrote.

Most viewers on Instagram weren’t fans of the mommy hack.

“Yall still treating her like an Infant,” one Instagram user wrote.

“She definitely old enough to bathe herself. With the breastfeeding n all, it’s creepy AF how hard she is trying to keep this girl in an infantile stage,” another added.

“You go in the bathroom to do your hair but can’t bathe your baby in there?! You lost me, babe,” one follower pointed out.

Austin addressed the backlash on Twitter, telling followers that they should understand by now that she’s an “unconventional mother.”

“Wow just Wow! Here we go again,” she tweeted. “Giving my lil girl a bath in the sink went Viral? SMH! People, you gotta know by now that I’m an unconventional mother. I do what works and is easier on me. Some may want to take some pointers rather than rag on me!”

The comments on Austin’s TikTok account appeared to be a lot more supportive than on Instagram, however. Most users seemed to be in awe of how large the family’s sink was.

“Damn how deep is your sink. And sink baths are the best. My kids are too big for ours,” wrote one user on TikTok.

“She is so stinking cute!! I need a sink that big for my grandbabies,” said another.
