Here’s a film I profiled last November and haven’t heard much about since. At the time, it was called Black, White and Blues; but, as you can see from the poster above, it’s received a name change. Now it’s titled Redemption Road.

Directed by Mr Mario Van Peebles, who’s been quite busy behind the camera lately, with 3 feature film projects at some stage of production/distribution that we’ve covered in the last 12 months alone. The other 2 being Things Fall Apart, starring 50 Cent, and We The Party, starring an ensemble cast including Michael Jai White, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, and Snoop.

Redemption Road stars Michael Clarke Duncan and Morgan Simpson (above) in a drama about:

… two seemingly different men [who] embark on a music-steeped journey through the American South, learning along the way that life isn’t about where you end up – it’s how you get there that matters. Somewhere along the 900 miles between Austin, TX and Huntsville, AL the two men become unlikely friends. However, every road has an end. In Huntsville, sad truths come to light, with heartbreak and violence lingering in their wake, ultimately leaving both men changed forever.

Intrigued? Yes? No?

Well, in my last post, I guessed that the film would head straight to DVD/VOD land after playing the film festival circuit.

WRONG!

It’s headed to theaters after all; a limited theatrical release beginning on August 26th, via Freestyle Releasing in a service deal likely.
