Donald and Melania Trump are visiting the United Kingdom but one of the royals will not be there to welcome the first couple.

Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle will not be present for the three-day visit because she is still on maternity leave, according to CBS News. The trip is scheduled for June 3, three days before baby Archie Harrison turns one month old.

Several other members of the royal family are scheduled to meet with the Trumps. Queen Elizabeth will host the official welcome along with son Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Parker-Bowles. Most welcomes are located at the Horse Guards Parade venue, but the event will be moved to the palace in anticipation of protests. Many British citizens staged protests when President Trump visited their nation in 2018.

Meghan’s husband, Prince Harry, will have lunch with the Trump after the conclusion of the royal welcome. At the end of the day, there will be a royal banquet and it will be attended by the aforementioned royals along with Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton.

Although Markle is missing the festivities for an important reason, she probably isn’t experiencing any fears of missing out. As Elle pointed out, she has been critical of Trump in the past.

In 2016, Markle criticized Trump for his behavior on the campaign trail. She was starring in Suits at the time and was content with staying in Canada to ride out his presidency.

“It’s really the moment I go; we film Suits in Toronto and I might just stay in Canada,” she told Larry Wilmore.

Yes, of course, Trump is divisive, think about female voters alone, right? I think it was in 2012 the Republican Party lost the female vote by 12 points; that is a huge number and with as misogynistic as Trump is, and so vocal about it, that is a huge chunk of it.”

She also expressed support for his then-presidential opponent, Hillary Clinton.

“You’re not just voting for a woman if it’s Hillary because she’s a woman, but certainly because Trump has made it easy to see that you don't really want that kind of world that he’s painting,” she continued.

Meghan is gonna be at home relaxing with the baby.
