A good start to the year for Isaiah Washington – his starring role in the critically-lauded drama Blue Caprice (which was acquired by Sundance Selects after its premiere at the festival in January), to his signing with new management (announced just yesterday), to Russ Parr’s The Undershepherd (which Washington stars and excels in) finally getting picked up for release (cable TV) to air this spring, a book that’s selling, and more to come which will be announced in coming months, including today’s news.

Washington has been cast in a starring role on the CW’s post-apocalyptic thriller The 100, which is based on an upcoming novel written by Kass Morgan.

Set 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, The 100 centers on a space station that’s home to the few human survivors, from where 100 juvenile delinquents are sent back to Earth to investigate the possibility of re-colonizing the planet.

Washington will play a character named Jaha, who’s described as the leader of the remaining human race now living in the orbiting spaceship.

He joins a cast that includes Henry Ian Cusick, Bob Morley, Eli Goree, Marie Avgeropoulos and Eliza Taylor.

Meanwhile, a name I haven’t heard in a long while, Michael Michele, has joined the cast of Fox’s drama pilot, Delirium, which is also based on a literary work, and is set in a dystopian world and centers on a young girl, Lena Haloway, who falls in love in a society where love is seen as a disease and is illegal.

Michael Michele will play a Senator Elyse Hargrove, a widow with 3 kids and Presidential ambitions, and who opposes the insurrection against the anti-love government.

According to her IMDB page, Michele’s last on screen work was the 2011 season of Gossip Girl, in which she appeared in 4 episodes.
