The Get Down, directed by Baz Luhrmann, has a new teaser to get you hype for the upcoming Netflix series. Luhrmann is well known for being a master of the period piece, directing films like Moulin Rouge! and The Great Gatsby. Now he's set his sights on the 1970's in New York City's South Bronx, following a group of young black teens—telling their coming of age tale through music.

Here is the series synopsis:

Summer 1977. New York City is broken down and beaten-up. Armed only with verbal games, improvised dance steps, some markers and spray cans, this rag-tag crew of South Bronx teenagers will make a pact that becomes bigger than all of them and change their lives -- and the world -- forever. The cast on this one is full of promise. Justice Smith (Paper Townsinterview with EW, Luhrmann said , "One of the great collaborations is that I've been working really closely in creating these rhymes, and he's a producer on the film, with one of the most iconic voices of the '90s and that's Nas...And it's been playing really, really successfully."

The Get Down will be available for binge watching on Aug. 12 on Netflix.
