WASHINGTON, DC (February 5, 2013) – Centric, today’s 24-hour music and entertainment channel for African American and multicultural viewers, continues its tribute to Black History Month this weekend by celebrating some of America’s greatest musical talent to hit the charts. Intimate interviews about the legendary Whitney Houston in a never-before seen documentary Whitney Houston: Legend and new exclusive interviews from R&B group New Edition in Being: New Edition – it all takes center stage Saturday and Sunday, February 9-10, starting at 9:00PM ET.
Only on Centric during the Whitney Houston/New Edition Weekend will viewers see, Whitney Houston: Legend, a documentary filled with exclusive footage and interviews. Houston – who broke boundaries in music and business – eventually broke hearts with her tragic and much too early death. Timed almost a year anniversary of her death, Black History Month would not be complete without a celebration of one of the greatest voices of our generation. This original documentary delves into the life of the late pop icon through vintage performance footage, recordings and interviews.
New Edition, one of the most successful R&B groups to date gives a behind the scenes look in Being: New Edition. This riveting documentary will take the viewer on an intimate journey through the ups, downs, inspirations, and epiphanies of New Edition and how each step of the way impacted not only their career, but also the world. Viewers will get an in-depth look into the lives of each member as they give their first-hand account of their failures and their achievements and how the group managed to stay together and develop a path for other boy bands to follow. Each member will start a segment and guide the viewer on a journey giving the viewer a visual of how much the music industry as a whole was enriched because of this group.
