What's in theaters this weekend:
Head Games is a documentary directed by documentarian Steve James (Hoop Dreams). The documentary based upon the book of the same name by Christopher Nowinski. The film takes a deeper look at the devastating and long-term effects of concussions in all sports, and offers eye-opening insight and presents supporting cutting-edge science evidence on head trauma from leading medical experts.
The film being released by Variance Films today in limited theaters can also be found on iTunes, Facebook, Amazon Video, DirecTV and others.
Dredd which stars Wood Harris is an action film "set in the future where police have the authority to act as judge, jury and executioner. Harris stars as Kay a henchman who challenges Dredd (Karl Urban) and his partner Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirby) to take down a gang dealing the cities latest dangerous drug; Slo-Mo."
Currently on Wrotten Tomatoes it has a 77% Fresh Rating with 95 reviews.
Unconditional directed by Brent McCorkie, and produced by Jason Atkins and J. Wesley Legg, stars Michael Ealy. The film is said to be based on the true events surrounding Ealy's character of Joe Bradford.
The synopsis reads:
Samantha Crawford's life is a storybook life: she’s happily married, she lives on a ranch where she keeps her beloved horse, and the stories she’s told and illustrated since childhood have become published books. When her husband Billy is killed in a senseless act of violence, Sam loses her faith and her will to live. But a death-defying encounter with two children leads to a reunion with Joe, her oldest friend. As Sam watches her friend Joe care for and love the kids in his under-resourced neighborhood, she begins to realize that no matter life’s circumstances, the love of God is always reaching out to us.
Currently has a 40% Fesh Ratin on Rotten Tomatoes but with only five reviews currently I would say its too early to make a determination.
