Here's a new trailer for writer/director/executive producer Charles Murray's feature debut, Things Never Said, which stars Shanola Hampton (Shameless), Omari Hardwick, Elimu Nelson (The Shield), Tamala Jones, Dorian Missick and Michael Beach.
This is a project we first alerted you two summers ago, and it's now much closer to making its debut via the film festival circuit – specifically, at the Pan African Film Festival in LA. The official announcement on that will be made soon.
Described as a drama/romance, the micro-budgeted film "explores a young woman’s quest for self worth and purpose as she struggles to find the meaning behind her choices and her voice through spoken-word poetry."
Director Murray's credits include mostly TV, writing for shows like Castle, Criminal Minds and Third Watch, all acclaimed series; so, naturally, his abilities as a writer on those programs extends to his feature film, and should put Murray and his debut on your list of filmmakers and films to watch this year.
You may also remember that he sold a female-led police procedural series to CBS (alongside Queen Latifah).
Things Never Said is produced by Omar Albertto and Brian Lewis.
I've actually seen the film, but I'll save my thoughts for when it makes its premiere. As I told Charles, it's quite different from what I know of his past work (mostly crime dramas),but that's a good thing. Comparisons to a film like Love Jones will likely happen, when more people start to see it.
