The 33-year-old rapper was gunned down outside of his Marathon Clothing store on Sunday.
According to The Daily Beast, Hussle, born Ermias Davidson Asghedom, made an impromptu stop at the shop to pick up some new clothes for a friend. The rapper did not inform J-Roc about the stop, leaving him vulnerable and unguarded.
A longtime friend was reportedly released from prison after serving 20 years and needed some new clothing to meet family members, Page Six reports. The friend and his cousin were the other two men caught in the crossfire.
Authorities named 29-year-old Eric Holder as the suspected gunman. Holder and Hussle allegedly exchanged words before the incident. Investigators believe the shooting was personal.
