Maybe best known for her work on stage, actress Patina Miller has joined the cast of the next installment in The Hunger Games franchise, Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2.
Patina Miller Will Make Her Feature Film Acting Debut As Commander Paylor In 'Mockingjay'
This will be her feature film debut by the way.
Miller has signed up to play Commander Paylor, who, according to the Hunger Games wiki, was the leader among the rebels in District 8, and later becomes the president of Panem. Paylor is said to be in her early thirties, has dark brown eyes and even darker hair. Although she looks too young for her occupation, she clearly sounds authoritative.
Their description, not mine.
But I’m sure those of you who are fans of the series will be familiar with the character already.
Miller has excelled on the Broadway stage, most recently winning for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role Tony Award for her work in the musical Pippin.
She also starred in the Broadway musical adaption of Sister Act (produced by Whoopi Goldberg) when it was initially launched.
And Aretha Franklin once had Miller on her short list of actresses to play Aretha Franklin in her biopic.
Congrats Patina on your first big screen role!
