We’ve covered John Akomfrah’s 2011 Sundance festival hit The Nine Muses previously on this site, but here’s a reminder that today is the last day to see it at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

MoMA and the Maysles Cinema in Harlem are co-presenting three of Akomfrah’s films, marking the first time that any have opened theatrically in the U.S.

Seven Songs For Malcolm (1993) and The Last Angel of History (1995) will screen at the Maysles through October 15th.

Born in Accra, Ghana in 1957 to political activist parents, Akomfrah was widely recognized as one of the most influential figures of black British culture in the 1980s. An artist, lecturer, writer and filmmaker, as well as a founder of the Black Audio Film Collective, his 20-year body of work is among the most distinctive in the contemporary British art world.
