Imagine, if you would, that you wanted to commit a robbery for some quick cash.

Would you go rob a bank? Maybe a armored truck? Or a jewelry store?

What about a dollar store?

According to ABC News 4, that's exactly what one North Charleston, South Carolina man decided to do.

Wearing a white t-shirt over his head to obscure his identity, 18-year-old Brandon Cook entered a North Charleston Family Dollar this week, and pointed a gun at a sales clerk.

The robbery went off without a hitch. The clerk bagged up the store's cash and handed it over.

Cook fled the scene.

But was caught, because he led police right to him.

How you ask?

Well, like a financially flippant Hansel and Gretel, Cook dropped a trail of coins behind him as he ran for safety.

All North Charleston police had to do was follow the money from the Family Dollar to Cook's hideout.

According to NCPD spokesman Spencer Pryor, authorities found Cook hiding in the back yard of a nearby home with cash, loose coins and rolled coins on his person.

He was literally caught red-handed.

Officers arrested Cook and he now sits detained at the Al Cannon Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing.
