WAKE UP. Good Morning from Moscow. Wanna clear up some confusion about RED HOOK SUMMER. We are not shooting now, finished in August… Red Hook Summer is not a Sequel to Do The Right Thing and it has nothing to do with Brooklyn Loves MJ. Subject Matter? New Spike Lee Joint YO

Words from Spike Lee via Twitter (he’s become quite the fiend), posted earlier today. Since news of his secretive new joint was first announced (via Twitter), speculation has suggested that the film, titled Red Hook Summer, might be a sequel of sorts to his 1989 seminal film, Do The Right Thing. And given what’s been leaked of the film’s plot – that Spike is reprising his role the role he played in Do The right Thing – aka Mookie – and the story takes place in Brooklyn during the summer – the suggestion that it just might be a sequel to DTRT isn’t so unreasonable.

However, from his tweets above, Spike clears up the confusion for us. It’s no sequel; it’s a brand-spanking new Spike Lee Joint… Yo!

Now I’m even more curious to see what exactly he’s been cooking up.

As noted in my last post on this, in addition to Spike, Clarke Peters, Nate Parker, Turron Kofi Alleyne, Samantha Ivers, Limary Agosto, Heather Simms, and Kalon Jackson, are also in the film, which is scheduled for a 2012 release… according to Spike… on Twitter… 🙂

Come on Spike… stops teasing us; give us the goods mayne! How about an S&A exclusive? I know you’re reading 🙂
