Our favorite actor-activist-bae Jesse Williams proves that yet again that he’s more than his looks and unafraid to voice his opinion in his newly executive produced documentary “Stay Woke: The Black Lives Matter Movement”.

“Stay Woke: The Black Lives Matter Movement,” which debuts on May 26th on BET, chronicles the powerful hashtag that has grown legs and incited change in cities across the country. Williams appears in the film along with DeRay McKesson, Johnetta Elzie, Darnell Moore, Michaela Angela Davis and more.

The director, Emmy-award winning filmmaker Laurens Grant, also produced the Sundance documentary “The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution.”

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Williams talked about the importance of the documentary. “It’s an ongoing movement, so we wanted to be sure that as we catalog its origin story and machination, we also wanted to be sure we do not treat it as a fixed, finite, closed circle.”

Although Williams is an actor on Shonda Rhime’s show Grey’s Anatomy, he still found a way to be involved with the movement. In 2014 he went to Ferguson to join protesters and show his support.

“The moment was electric,” Jesse said referring to the birth of the movement. “Black Lives Matter was a brilliantly framed set of marching orders-slash-slogan-slash-plea. Young black people, they are plugged in and they’re moving.”

The film will surely give us a perspective on #BlackLivesMatter that those of us who weren’t able to make it to Ferguson, haven’t been able to experience.

“Stay Woke: The Black Lives Matter Movement” airs on BET on Thursday May 26 at 9 p.m. ET.

Is there anything that Jesse can’t do right?
