BET Networks has begun unveiling its official fall lineup, and we'll have coverage of noteworthy new shows right here on S&A, including previews.
The network announced yesterday that the debut of one of its anticipated new fall series, Don't Sleep!, hosted by T. J. Holmes, (aka LL TJ) will happen on Monday, October 1 from 11-11:30 p.m. ET/PT.
The show will air on Monday through Thursday every week.
Says the press release:
“DON’T SLEEP!,” will feature Holmes delivering smart, biting social commentary on significant issues important to African Americans. Guaranteed to shake up late night, “DON’T SLEEP!,” presents and tackles current headlines that affect our community while also creating awareness about vital stories mainstream media tends to disregard. “DON’T SLEEP!” is also infused with a team of correspondents injecting perspective, humor and commentary about a wide range of topics. The witty late night series is keenly focused on keeping Black America engaged, awake and in the know.
The show is being co-produced by Madeleine Smithberg and Sarah North of Mad Cow Productions, which puts Holmes and his new show in good hands, because Smithberg is the Emmy and Peabody award-winning producer, co-creator and former showrunner of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, producing more than 1100 episodes for the Emmy-award winning series.
Although I wouldn't expect Don't Sleep! to just be the black version of The Daily Show.
You'll recall that BET signed Holmes to a multi-platform talent deal, which includes hosting this new show on BET, as well as contributions to its website BET.com.
