It looks like the woman who posted R. Kelly’s bond earlier this year will have to take an L after a Cook County judge ruled she won’t be getting her money back any time soon.

Chicago Sun-Times reports that when the R&B singer faced jail time in Cook County Jail, Valencia Love put up $100,000 for Kelly’s bond. Kelly was arrested four months later on federal charges.

Love’s attorney, John Collins, filed a motion to have the money returned to Love, stating that when she posted the money for Kelly, she had no clue about the federal investigations in New York or Chicago, according to TIME. Cook County Judge Lawrence Flood denied the motion due to lack of legal basis.

“She’s worried she’s in jeopardy of losing that money,” Collins said.

There is a chance that Love could get her money back once Kelly’s case in Cook County is closed; however, the trial could take years.

According to Collins, Love is also concerned that her lost coins could be used to pay the singer’s court and attorney fees. However, the Kelly supporter told the Sun-Times that the singer reimbursed her $100,000 after he posted bond.

“He wasn’t able to get to his money because it was the weekend and he was the only one who had access to his account. It was basically a loan,” she said.

So why does Love want the money returned? To cover Kelly’s legal costs and other expenses.

“At no point have I ever supported a pedophile,” Love claimed. “He has not been convicted yet. Why is it so bad that I did a favor for a friend?”

While Collins said Love also helped Kelly by lending him $50,000 for back child support, Love denies that claim.

Steve Greenberg, Kelly’s lawyer, said it’s too early to say whether the bond money would go toward attorney fees, but it’s a possibility.

Judge Flood also denied a motion from prosecutors to increase the singer’s bond, insisting it is excessive because Kelly is already being held without bond on federal cases in New York and Illinois.

“At this particular time it’s kind of a moot point,” Flood said.

Kelly is currently being held at a federal detention center in Chicago as he faces multiple sexual assault charges.
