Remember when Maxine Shaw and Kyle Barker desperately tried to keep their relationship on the down low or when Steve Urkel’s obsession with Laura Winslow mirrored Screech’s unrelenting pursuit of Lisa Turtle? The recent reboot of television sitcoms like Full House and Boy Meets World is proof that 90’s nostalgia is real.

In an interview with Nylon Magazine, Tia Mowry confirmed her hopes to continue this trend by bringing back the hit sitcom Sister, Sister. “We’re looking, right now, for a producer and a writer, someone who can kind of be a leader of the pack in regards to running the show,” she said.  “I would want her to replicate my life, and what’s going on in it right now,” Mowry shared in reference to her character Tia Landry.

The original hit sitcom, which aired from 1994 to 1999, followed the lives of identical twins who were separated at birth and adopted by different families before reuniting fourteen years later. Mowry would like the Sister, Sister reboot to find the sisters, all grown up. When it comes to her role as Tia Landry, the actress says, “I would want her to replicate my life, and what’s going on in it right now.” Apparently, this art imitating life model was the winning formula for the success of the original show.  “A lot of people might not know this, but every year at the beginning of the season, me and my sister (Tamera Mowry) would sit down with the producers and tell them what’s going on with our lives in real life, and they would turn those into stories,” she said.

If you’re a stan from way back who would live for a Sister, Sister reboot, don’t get your hopes up just yet. Tia and Tamera have not yet landed the right backing for the show.  “I thought people would kind of be jumping on it, but it’s a lot harder than my sister and I thought it would be.” We’ll be keeping an eye out for this one.
