Elsa Majimbo, a Kenyan native who was chosen as a keynote speaker at the SheBelieves event in Los Angeles, brought delight to her audience while sarcastically talking about why she tries to live her life like a white man.

“I try to live my life like a white man,” Majimbo, a TikTok sensation, said during her speech. “I walk around with no fear and the assumption that anything is possible.”

The SheBelieves Summit is part of U.S. Soccer’s effort to empower young girls while aiming to grow women’s soccer, according to the initiative.

On March 15, U.S. Soccer announced Majimbo as a keynote speaker for the Los Angeles event.

Majimbo spoke about her inspiring journey during the summit.

“People think I dropped out of college when I hit my first 100,000 followers,” she said. “I actually dropped out when I got my first 100,000 views on a video. Because I’m so confident in myself and I knew I’d succeed.”

The social media star said she didn’t like school, but found her calling in entertainment.

“I was like, I need to make this work,” she said.

Majimbo recalled a message from one of her teachers, who said, “I know you’re popular right now, but these things don’t last. I think you should stay in school.”

“To that, I gave a very simple reply,” the comedian said. “Thank you for your concern, but I’m a star.”

Social media users have fallen in love with Majimbo, who found success when she posted now-viral videos while being stuck at home during the pandemic. Some of her videos relate to real-life struggles, such as focusing on studying. The African star also loves to joke about her obsession with snacks.

Many Instagram and TikTok users have been using her voice on TikTok or Instagram Reels, according to Forbes.

The young star has landed deals with Fenty and MAC.

“I initially made my videos to bring joy to myself. I would make them and I’d think, ‘I am so funny.’ I would watch the videos and just laugh,” Majimbo told Forbes. “I wouldn’t care if other people found them funny or not. Turns out, the videos have also brought other people joy, and I’m so happy they did.”
