It seems like the Lifetime movie network is producing more original black movies (or movies with black people in starring roles) than any other TV (broadcast or cable) network right now; there's the all-black cast remake of Steel Magnolias; the recent acquisition of Terry McMillan’s A Day Late And A Dollar Short which the network plans to adapt; the Mary J. Blige/Angela Bassett project which centers on the relationship between Betty Shabazz and Coretta Scott King called Parallel Lives; there's Abducted: The Carlina White Story, which stars Aunjanue Ellis, Keke Palmer, and Sherri Shepherd; and also there was Taraji P. Henson In Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story last year; and now this one: another original movie titled A Narrow Bridge, starring Toni Braxton.

Toni actually revealed that she'd be filming a Lifetime movie with her son, via her twitter account, in June, but wouldn't give any further details on the project, when poked by her followers.

The film will be called A Narrow Bridge (apparently, it was once called A Moment In Time, according to the information I have), and it will star Braxton and David Julian Hirsh (Weeds, Hawthorne), in a movie about a Christian, African American woman who falls in love with a Jewish, Caucasian man. 

Of course there'll be some conflict; there wouldn't be a movie otherwise.

Her 9-year-old son Diezel plays her son in the movie as well, which was scheduled to begin shooting this month, for a February 2013 broadcast.

Braxton, who first entered the world of feature filmmaking in Kingdom Come (2001), currently appears as Rosalie Rosebud in the family film, The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure, released this week.
