BET's MUHAMMAD ALI: THE PEOPLE’S CHAMP

Next Wednesday, September 23 at 10 PM ET/PT, BET will premiere its new documentary "Muhammad Ali: The People’s Champ," which is also the opening film at this year’s Urbanworld Film Festival, which kicks off next week –  September 23-27, 2015.

Directed by Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah (the pair recently directed the ESPN "30-for-30" film, "Benji"), the documentary is a biographical tribute to the former heavyweight champion, Muhammad Ali, making a connection between his boxing prowess and activism and today’s millennials, to reveal what Ali means to the world today.

The special features exclusive interviews with family, friends and admirers, including Muhammad Ali’s daughter and Niece Laila Ali, as well as Shaya Ali, LL Cool J , Common, Ludacris, T.I., Nas, Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Ray Lewis, Tyrese, Rosie Perez, David Banner, Michael Eric Dyson, Billie Jean King, Walt Frazier, Jim Brown, Ronnie Essett, Sway Calloway, Wood Harris, Jeffrey T.
