Included on the list of the 5 filmmakers selected for the 2011 class of Focus Features' Africa First program was Oshosheni Hiveluah from Namibia), and her project, titled 100 Bucks, described as an immersion into the Namibian capital of Windhoek through the progress of a piece of currency.

For those unfamiliar with the program… launched in 2009, Africa First was created "to foster and develop long-term relationships with some of the most promising up-and-coming filmmakers from continental Africa."

Each year, five filmmakers are awarded $10,000 each for production on a narrative short film made in continental Africa.

Oshosheni Hiveluah (who, in my interview with her last fall, said she was a big fan of Italian and South American cinema), released the trailer for her Focus Features Africa First project 100 Bucks, earlier this week, and it's embedded below; so watch it for a glimpse of what to expect.

I'm looking forward to seeing the complete film, as well as those from the rest of her class: Cedric Ido (from Burkina Faso); Mark Middlewick (from South Africa); Akosua Adoma Owusu (from Ghana); and Zelalem Woldemariam (from Ethiopia).
