Some quickie TV news you can use…
First, Jocko Sims has joined the second season cast of Showtime‘s Masters Of Sex in a recurring role, playing Robert, who first gets Libby’s (Caitlin Fitzgerald) attention through his sister, Coral, who is working in the Masters’ home. He is an activist with CORE (Congress of Racial Equality) who wants to do whatever is necessary to see his cause through. Keke Palmer, who previously joined the season two cast, will play Coral, who’s the nanny hired by the Masters to care for their new baby.
Second, Damon Wayans Jr. has been promoted to series regular on New Girl for the upcoming fourth season, after being initially booked for a six-episode arc.
Third, Selenis Leyva has also been promoted to series regular on the just ordered third season of Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black. Leyva plays the quick-witted Gloria Mendoza.
And fourth, Fox has set a debut date and released a new trailer for its Allen Hughes-directed drama co-starring Rza, titled Gang Related. The project follows a gang member who’s sent in to infiltrate the San Francisco Police Department who rises through its ranks but must balance his obligations to his crime family with an increasing sense of loyalty to his new “family” – the SFPD’s Gang Task Force. Ramon Rodriguez stars, while Rza plays a character named Cassius, Rodriguez’s partner and best friend on the Gang Task Force, who’s originally from the streets of Oakland. Series Premiere episode of will air air on Thursday, May 22 (9PM ET/PT). Trailer below:
