Anchor Bay Entertainment and The Weinstein Company have announced the home entertainment release of the critically acclaimed Fruitvale Station – the critically-acclaimed drama which debuted at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, winning both the Grand Jury Prize for dramatic feature and the Audience Award for U.S. dramatic film, the first film since 2009’s Precious to simultaneously capture both awards. 

It also played in the Un Certain Regard section at this year’s Festival de Cannes, taking home the Prize of the Future award. 

And most recently, the Independent Filmmaker Project nominated director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan for the 2013 Gotham Independent Film Bingham Ray Breakthrough Director and Breakthrough Actor awards, respectively. 

The film is also up for the 2013 Gotham Independent Film Audience Award. 
 
The Weinstein Company released Fruitvale Station theatrically on July 12, 2013, where it went on to earn over $16 million at the box office, making it one of the top ten highest grossing indie films of 2013. 

And if you didn’t see it in theaters, and/or would like to own/rent it, you can do so when it’s released on DVD, Blu-Ray Combo Pack with Digital HD UltraViolet, Video-On-Demand (VOD) and Pay-Per-View starting on January 14, 2014.  The film will also be available early on Digital HD January 7.

DVD and Blu-Ray combo pack special features include: a featurette titled Fruitvale Station: The Story of Oscar Grant, and Q&As with the cast and and filmmakers.
 
Director Coogler made his feature directorial debut with a drama centered on the tragic shooting of Oscar Grant (played by Michael B. Jordan), a 22-year-old Bay Area father who was senselessly gunned down by BART officers on New Year’s Day in 2009, and whose murder sent shockwaves through the nation after being captured on camera by fellow subway passengers. 

The film is produced by Forest Whitaker, and co-stars Octavia Spencer, Melonie Diaz, and Kevin Durand.
