Vin Diesel's and writer/director David Twohy's third go around with their Riddick creation, enititled simply Riddick, has gotten a R rating from the MPAA, for "strong violence, language and sexual content/nudity."
This will no doubt ease the minds of fans who were afraid that this new Riddick film would pull its punches and go for a PG-13 rating, like the previous Riddick film, 2004's The Chronciles of Riddick; but it's going back to the harder R rated edge of 2000's Pitch Black.
The premise this time around finds Riddick… well you can read for yourself:
"Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction."
The film is schedued to be released sometime in the first quarter of 2013.
