Viola Davis is in talks to play the female lead in Michael Mann’s cyber crime thriller titled Cyber (I certainly hope they get more creative with the name before the film is released), to be produced by Legendary Pictures.
Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but the film will deal with computer hackers, the crimes they commit, and the government task forces that hunt them.
Chris Hemsworth is already attached to star in the film, although nothing is yet known about the characters either actor play.
Shooting is set to begin shooting in China next month, where the project will be set, with Chinese actors cast to play prominent roles.
It’ll be interesting to see how an American-made cyber crime movie set in China will play out during a time when China and the USA are blaming each other for masterminding organized cyber crimes, hacking into each other’s systems, in real life.
2013 should be a good year for Ms Davis, with at least 2 feature films scheduled for release, including high profile projects like Ender’s Game and Prisoners.
