Washington mother Darnesah Weary described a disturbing racially motivated confrontation involving her teenage children outside Harvey's Lounge in Edmonds, Washington, last Sunday. Weary claims a bouncer, holding a bat, hurled racial slurs at her children, who were taking photos outside the establishment for a school project.

In a post on Facebook, Weary explained that her children were chased by a man from the tavern who allegedly said "they don't want [N-word] on their property," Weary wrote.

"….He then proceeded to chase them holding a bat in his hands," the mom continued. "My kids quickly got back inside their car and came home fearful that he was following them. I immediately called 911, and they’re here taking a report now."

Weary also claimed that she called Harvey's Lounge to address the encounter and was told by a woman on the phone that she didn't "want them on her property," and that the teens were "suspicious," Weary wrote.

According to local Seattle ABC-affiliated KOMO News, police have launched an investigation and have been conducting interviews. Sgt. Josh McClure of the Edmonds police department told KOMO News that surveillance footage revealed that a confrontation did take place and that two people can be seen leaving the bar and seemingly yelling from the doorway. At one point, a woman can be seen with a bat by her side, KOMO News reports.

"There does appear to be some agitation, in her body language, and she brought a bat to the door, so we're trying to figure out by talking to her what that rationale is," McClure said in an interview. He later added, "We know that there was a confrontation that took place, what we can't tell is what was said because it's just video, there's no audio, and that's where all the interviews are coming into play."

According to the police report of the incident, Weary's son, 18, and daughter, 14, were outside Harvey's Lounge – using the light from the tavern's sign – taking pictures for a school project. A patron reportedly asked them to leave, and they did. They later returned to the parking lot area because the 18-year-old misplaced his wallet and was retracing his steps. The confrontation took place when the teens returned to find the wallet.

"That was the first time I ever felt unsafe and that my kids were in danger, "Weary told KOMO News. "The kids came flying through the door, my daughter was like frantic, and my son just sat down, put his head down and shut down."

On Monday, the owner of Harvey's Lounge wrote a post on Facebook saying the tavern does not tolerate racism.

The Edmonds police have shared information on the incident to the FBI, Seattle Times reported.
