The Coalition is the first feature film to emerge from Team Sizzle, the independent film company financed by Baltimore Ravens football player Terrell Suggs.
Our own Ms. WOO has covered Team Sizzle in the past, when they released their short films sisters. and When Beautiful People Do Ugly Things. Monica Mingo, who wrote and directed both of the aforementioned films, steps in to direct The Coalition.
The large cast of relative newcomers includes Denyce Lawton and J.R. Ramirez (both of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne), Adrien Bailon (of Disney Cheetah Girls fame), Nadine Ellis (BET’s Let’s Stay Together) and Eddie Goines, who you may remember from Beyonce’s If I Were a Boy video.
Team Sizzle hasn’t released much info on the film, other than to say that it deals with relationships between women and men. But after shooting steadily in Arizona throughout the summer, the company released this teaser in July:
