From Soundcloud to touring with Lil Uzi Vert, American rapper Playboi Carti’s influence continues to grow through his music and other creative endeavors.
Since 2022, the "Magnolia" hitmaker has been teasing the release of his third studio album, I Am Music. On Mar. 14, it finally arrived on streaming platforms.
The rapper initially announced the project via social media, sharing a carousel of photographs with a caption where he tagged Spotify.
The streaming platform publicly replied to the rapper on X, formerly Twitter, with several hourglass emojis, indicating the mounting anticipation.
Guest features on the impressive 30-track I Am Music come from Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd and more.
Ahead of the LP's release, Kai Cenat even urged Carti to drop his third studio album during a red carpet interview at the Grammys.
“He needs to drop, for real… I know Carti gon’ see this. Carti, just drop! I’m on national TV,” Cenat told Access Hollywood at the time.
After years of what's been described a "developmental hell," Playboi Carti's fanbase is happy to have new tracks for their spring and summer playlist.
Now that hip hop heads and critics have had time to listen, reviews are pouring in. Metacritic ranked the LP a 77/100.
Regardless of what haters have to say, the collective is clearly tapped in as I Am Music amassed 139.9M Spotify streams on its' first day out.
