Project 2025 was first unveiled in April 2023. Since the Presidential debate in early September, it’s entered the general consciousness.
The first mention of the 900-page manifesto was made by Kamala Harris. The VP explicitly attempted to tie Donald Trump to the plan, although he refuted any association.
Project 2025 is a right-wing strategy guide outlining how to reboot the government and make it more amenable to a “conservative” agenda. The following are its intended effects.
Project 2025 will gut the Voting Rights Act and put up barriers to every citizen’s most basic right. This includes onerous voter ID laws and promoting partisan poll monitoring.
It cites the anachronistic 1873 Comstock Act to prevent the mailing of women's medication. The plan also seeks to cut vital medical care.
Project 2025 hopes to curb workers’ rights including eliminating overtime pay, choking off organizing efforts and rolling back child labor protections.
Project 2025 intends to subvert Title VII discrimination protections for the LGBTQ+ community. It also uses “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” (DEI) as a pejorative.
The manifesto claims that regulations to mitigate global climate change are overreaching government control.
Thousands of civil servants keep the US government functioning. Project 2025 proposes firing anyone who won't sign a pledge to its ideology.
These proposals aren’t new. The American Legislative Exchange Council and Newt Gingrich’s Contract for America are two past examples of attempted extremism.
Donald Trump has repeatedly denied any knowledge of Project 2025. However, he’s inextricably linked to the policy’s author, The Heritage Foundation.
