Grant Ellis is more than just The Bachelor – he's a man with a past, a passion for life and a desire for love. Here's a glimpse into who he is and what to expect from his journey on season 29.
As the second Black male lead in The Bachelor's history, Ellis' casting marks a significant step toward greater diversity in the franchise.
Grant previously competed on Jenn Tran's Bachelorette season, earning a one-on-one date. Ultimately, he was eliminated before hometowns.
ABC announced Ellis as the new Bachelor shortly after his elimination, allowing potential contestants to apply for his season.
“Some qualities I’m looking for in a potential partner are somebody who’s adventurous, somebody who’s affectionate and somebody who’s loving," said Ellis.
Grant played basketball in high school and college, eventually going pro in the Dominican Republic until an injury ended his career. He then transitioned into finance.
After his basketball career, Grant became a passionate day trader, aiming to provide for his future family.
Grant has been open about his father's battle with addiction, sharing that he's been on a sobriety journey.
Beyond finance, Grant enjoys singing, salsa dancing, bowling and watching the Lakers. He also aspires to visit every country in the world.
