I think most would embrace a feature-length documentary on the late Dwayne McDuffie and the institution he created Milestone Media/Comics, a coalition of African American artists and writers, and comic book company owned by African Americans, striving to positively address the lack of minorities in American comics, fighting for recognition and acclaim in an industry dominated by whites, both the characters within the comics, as well as the people who create, market and sell them. 

The closest we'll get to it is the feature-length documentary by scholar and University of Georgia Professor, Jonathan Gayles – previously titled Shaft or Sidney Poitier: Black Masculinity In Comic Books, and is now called White Scripts And Black Supermen – Black Masculinities In American Comic Books.

We've covered both the film and the filmmaker since first hearing about the project about 2 years ago. It screened at a number of film festivals to much acclaim, and is now available on DVD (although only for educational purchase, via California Newsreel, which is frustrating). 

Educational purchase meaning colleges, high schools, public libraries, HBCUs & qualifying community organizations.

I didn't find the film listed anywhere else.

They once used to host these online screenings of certain titles, usually for a period of 30 days per film, and I'd get an email from them alerting me to these screening exclusives which I used to post here on S&A; but the lady who used to run that ship isn't with them anymore, and I haven't received any emails alerting me to online screenings since. 

But I did send an email to California Newsreel about all this, so when I get a reply, I'll update this post.
