The 2013 Urbanworld Film Festival (its 17th edition), presented by BET Networks, begins its run tomorrow, September (through the 22nd), although the festivals Opening Night film screens on September 19 at the SVA Theater in Chelsea (NYC) – David E. Talbert’s Baggage Claim.
In addition, a Season 4 episode of the HBO drama Boardwalk Empire (with Michael Kenneth Williams and newbie to the series Jeffrey Wright), will be presented during the festival, and Urbanworld would like to give away a pair of passes to the specific screening, which takes place at 7pm on Saturday, September 21. Tickets are $15 each, but if you’re lucky enough to win the pair of tickets the festival has allotted to S&A readers, you’ll obviously be attending the screening for free!
The screening will be followed by a Q&A moderated by Bevy Smith.
To enter to win the pair of tickets, all you have to do is:
1 – Follow Urbanworld on Twitter, if you aren’t already – @urfilmfest. I suppose if you’re already following them, unfollow, and then follow them again.
2 – After you follow, submit a question about Boardwalk Empire to the Urbanworld Twitter account, to be asked during the Q&A that will follow the screening, and the best question submitted (selected by Urbanworld) wins the pair of tickets.
Easy enough right?
BET returns for a sixth year as presenting sponsor along with founding sponsor HBO, who will host the Urbanworld Digital program again this year, with sessions presented by HBO, Interactive One, and MoviePass.
“Our 2013 slate indicates what I’ve known all year: that this is an exciting time for multicultural films,” said Gabrielle Glore, executive producer and head of programming for Urbanworld. “We are always honored to be able to connect audiences with the artistic excellence of the filmmakers who have participated in Urbanworld for 17 years. And the continued support of our partners BET and HBO make it possible for us to keep shining a light on the diversity of stories that the world needs to see.”
The 17th annual Urbanworld Film Festival will take place September 18-22, 2013 at midtown Manhattan’s AMC 34th Street, and will screen 60 films, including 4 world premieres and 2 U.S. premieres.
I’ll be there of course!
