It was just revealed that Albert Hughes has left the Warner Bros live action Akira project. According to sources, Hughes’ departure was due to “an amicable creative differences parting of the way.

It should be noted that those words are Hollyweirdspeak for a whole bunch of undisclosed reasons.

However Warner evidently holds no hard hard feelings for Albert Hughes since his and brother Allen’s last project for the studio, The Book of Eli , was a big money maker for them, and they want to keep the relationship with brothers on good terms.

Also it doesn’t hurt that current WB production chief Jeff Robinov is their former agent. Reportedly WB is looking for a new project for the brothers to work on as soon as possible, and the brothers will start looking at scripts as well.

However, Warner still intends to make their Akira movie, and is now looking or a new director.
