The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences has launched what it calls an international outreach program, and heading to East Africa for 2 weeks, starting yesterday through the 24th, with its mission that states “Ccnnecting creative communities around the globe through the art and science of Film… as well as creating opportunities for creative conversations between emerging and established filmmakers from many nations.

Kenya and Rwanda are their primary stops, though they plan to interact with a number of established and up-and-coming filmmakers from other countries in the region, including Sudan, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda.

Alfre Woodard and producer Stephanie Allain (Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan, We the Peeples) are among eight members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences East Africa delegation.
