Writer and director Alrick Brown’s film Kinyarwanda, which made its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January, was announced as one of the first selections to be presented at this year’s 47th annual Chicago International Film Festival, which runs from Oct 6-20th.

The film, which looks at the 1993 Rwandan genocide through the perspective of six characters (a Tutsi/Hutu couple, a small child, a soldier, a pair of teenage lovebirds, a priest and an Imam) will be released theatrcially in the U.S. in November through Ava DuVernay’s African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement (AFFRM).
