Congratulations New Yorkers! You’ll FINALLY get your first chance to see Nigerian filmmaker, Andrew Dosunmu’s Restless City, a Sundance 2011 entry, which I saw, loved and also reviewed on the old website, HERE.

The short description of Restless City reads: “… tells the story of an Africa immigrant surviving on the fringes of New York City where music is his passion, life is a hustle, and falling in love is his greatest risk.”

There is a much longer synopsis on the film’s website, but I think it gives away a bit much of the plot, so I didn’t post it here. But feel free to read it THERE if you’d like.

Its Sundance 2011 screening was the film’s world premiere! It was a 2010 IFP Project Forum selection this year, as well as a 2010 Narrative Lab and Lab Fellow, along with fellow Sundance 2011 selections, Pariah and Kinyarwanda. So, it’s obviously in good company.

The film STILL has no trailer yet, which I really don’t understand. It’s been out for months now, traveling the film festival circuit, and yet, there’s no trailer for it.

Anyway, as I said, I saw it at Sundance, and loved it – it’s a beautiful yet haunting piece of cinema, and if you are in NYC on May 29th, you’ll be able to see it on the big screen, as it deserves to be seen, at BAM Cinemas in Brooklyn.
