New York, NY (July 17, 2012)– Cedric Stewart (Tyler Perry's 'For Better or Worse') has been added to the cast of Alan Ball's new drama series 'Banshee.' The highly anticipated new series (currently filming) is slated to premiere in January 2013 and will feature such actors as Ben Cross (Star Trek), Antony Starr (Wish You Were Here) and Ivana Milicevic (Casino Royale).

True Blood's Alan Ball will executive produce alongside House's Greg Yaitanes, Peter Macdissi (Six Feet Under), Tropper and Schickler. Yaitanes will direct.

Jonathan Tropper and David Schicker will pen the drama, which revolves around Lucas Hood (Antony Starr) a criminal who steps into the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Penn., where he continues his shady ways while being hunted by gangsters he crossed in his past.

Stewart's character, Damien Sanchez, enters the town of Banshee, Pennsylvania for his big fight. Damien likes to fight and also party very hard. He plays by his own rules and doesn't let anyone stop him. After picking up a waitress, things get out of hand. Damien does something horrible, thinking he's above the law, and Lucas refuses to let him get away with it.

"I'm excited to have this opportunity to work on such an amazing project. Playing a Pro MMA fighter is serious business, and if I look good doing so it's because of the Krav Maga and MMA training I do with Otis "Black Belt" Berry at Brazu Academy in Gaithursburg, MD! He's one of the best" says Stewart.

In addition to his recurring role in Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse, Stewart's (who is managed by Serendipity Entertainment) credits include a guest starring role on HBO's Veep.
