I wasn’t at the Sundance Film Festival this year, so I still have yet to see Blue Caprice (it premiered at Sundance 2 months ago), and I also haven’t yet had the opportunity to interview the film’s 2 stars (Isaiah Washington and Tequan Richmond), and its director, the talented Alexandre Moors.

But I’m sure I’ll get my opportunity when as the film’s commercial release date approaches (last week, it was announced that Sundance Selects acquired North American and Latin American rights to the film, although no release date has been set yet). Although Zeba Blay, who did attend the festival, saw the film and reviewed it HERE.

In the meantime, this is probably one of the most enjoyable interviews I’ve seen done with all 3 gentlemen, together (there haven’t been that many – that I’m aware of anyway). I dig the casual, informal nature of it all, and it’s also quite informative, giving the audience a behind-the-scenes look at how the film came together, from casting Washington, through its premiere at Sundance.

I’d have loved to hear more from Tequan Richmond (Isaiah and Alexandre dominate the conversation), but it’s still encouraged viewing/listening.

Since its Sundance premiere, there has been quite a bit of buzz around the film, and the performance of its stars (notably Washington). It’s a film I hope to see at the New Directors/New Films Festival later this month.

The film is based on the story of the real-life Beltway (Washington D.C. area) sniper attacks of 2002, perpetrated by John Allen Muhammad (played by Washington) and Lee Boyd Malvo (played by Richmond). From all I’ve heard this far (including the interview below), it’s not exactly the film that you think it is, given the real life events it’s based on.
